Vice-President, Kashim Shettima and former Lagos state governor, Raji Fashola, says the call for parliamentary system of Government, as championed in some quarters, may not be the way out of perceived unjust distribution of commonwealth and infrastructure in the country.
Speaking at the 30th anniversary of Yusuf Olaolu Ali (SAN) Ghalib Chambers in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, they both said that only quality governance would shape the society not the system of government.
However, they advised those calling for the return of the country to a parliamentary system of government to deeply reflect on whether the reasons that caused its collapse before the First Republic have been taken care of or not.
The Vice-President said that President Tinubu had never used his office to influence electoral process since he assumed office.
According to Shettima, democracy can only thrive by adherence to rule of law and quality of governance not by parliamentary system, maintaining that many nations collapsed because of lack of access to truth and good governance.
On his part, Raji Fashola suggested the adoption of liberal democracy that would ensure better and improved livelihood of Nigerians.
